NBC & NBC Sports Network expands Belmont Stakes TV coverage

Interest is so high about having a Triple Crown winner this year that NBC and its cable mate NBC Sports Network have decided to expand TV coverage.  We find that even at the supermarket, people are talking about I’ll Have Another.  If they do not know the name of I’ll Have Another, they are talking about the jockey that was so excited when he won the Kentucky Derby and his wonderful smile.  Who knew how many people would fall in love with Mario Gutierrez and his infectious smile?

With all the interest in I’ll Have Another attempting to become racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner in the Belmont Stakes on June 9, TV viewers cannot get enough of horse racing.

NBC Sports Group will present 11 hours of Belmont week coverage, beginning with a special half-hour show looking at I’ll Have Another’s run at history at 7:30 p.m. EDT June 7 on NBC Sports Network. That same night, NBC Sports Network will rerun this year’s broadcasts of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes starting at 8 PM.

Additional programming also has been added to the NBC coverage on Saturday, June 9, as the Belmont Stakes broadcast will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the network.

NBC Sports Network will begin coverage of the undercard on Saturday at 3 p.m.
