Shanghai Bobby is favorite for 2013 Holy Bull Stakes

Gulfstream Park

Shanghai Bobby leads a field of ten three-year-old colts in Saturday’s 2013 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park in Florida. The Holy Bull is the tenth race with post time scheduled to be 5:05pm Eastern Time.  Live television coverage will be on HRTV.

Shanghai Bobby’s first start in 2013 won’t be a walk in the park – the Holy Bull features a deep cast of nine rivals for the juvenile champion and will provide a stern test on the road to the 2013 Kentucky Derby.  Which contenders will have their owners looking for 2013 Kentucky Derby tickets at Churchill Downs?  Will 2013 Kentucky Derby Tours see any of these horses on May 4th in Louisville?

Some thoughts on the ten horses entered in the 2013 Holy Bull Stakes:

Undefeated Shanghai Bobby comes into the Holy Bull after workouts at Palm Meadows.  Rosie Napravnik will ride. See our blog about Shanghai Bobby at https://kentuckyderbytours.com/blog/2013/01/22/shanghai-bobby-set-for-holy-bull-stakes/

Itsmyluckyday looks like he will be second choice after winning the Gulfstream Park Derby on New Year’s Day.

Sr. Quisqueyano was second to Itsmyluckyday in the Gulfstream Park Derby but he has won over an off track surface so watch for weather on Saturday.

Dewey Square and Frac Daddy have very close records.  Each won a race at Churchill Downs last year but had slow times in the Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs last year.

Tulira Castle family tree screams sprint but he did win a one turn mile last year.

Fredericksburg ran well in his first try in the same race as Tulira Castle.

Clearly Now is a first-time-dirt horse looking to go from racing in Woodbine to the 2013 Kentucky Derby trail.

Joshus’a Compromise came in 4th in the Gulfstream Park Derby.

Bern Identity had the fastest time of 13 horses at Palm Meadows.
