Churchill Downs has said the Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool #3 will open at noon on Friday March 11 and will close on Sunday, March 13 (times ET). Mike Battaglia (Kentucky Derby oddsmaker and newly named associate VP at Turfway Park) made Mohaymen the favorite at odds of 7-2. Tied for second choice at 7-2 are Eclipse Award winner Nyquist and the Mutuel Field of all other 3-year-olds.

This weekend also includes the single Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool for 2016, which runs at the same time as the Derby Future Wager, and also includes win and exacta wagering.

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool is fun for horse racing fans – it is a two-dollar minimum bet to win only with no refunds if your horse doesn’t start in the race with both win and exacta wagering available. Future Wager bets typically offer larger payouts than betting the same horse on race day because it is not yet known which horses will ultimately qualify to run in the Derby. The 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
