Will any 2013 Breeders Cup Juvenile runners be at the 2014 Kentucky Derby?

Santa Anita Park header greenThe Pre-entries are out for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Race and we wonder if any of these horses will be in Louisville the first Saturday in May in 2014. It is always interesting to see how many of the 2 year olds will be in the picture for the Kentucky Derby prep races. Then, will any of these horses be in the 2014 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs?

The Daily Racing Form released some info (see below) about the horses and what their expert handicappers thoughts about the race at this point. Breeders’ Cup will be held at Santa Anita Park and horse racing fans are excited.

HORSE TRAINER COMMENT ODDS

Havana, T. Pletcher, Yet to go 2 turns, but Champagne winner’s two Beyers are higher than anything anyone else here has, 5-2

Tap It Rich, B. Baffert, Only just recently beat maidens in debut, but did it routing over the track, ran fast enough to fit here, 5-1

Bond Holder, D. O’Neill, Got maiden win in the FrontRunner, the local prep at the distance over the track, but in slow time, 6-1

Strong Mandate, D. W. Lukas, As impressive as he was winning the Hopeful was as dull as he was in the Champagne; tricky read, 8-1

Dance With Fate, P. Eurton, Second best in the FrontRunner as the favorite; must do better to hit the board in this tougher spot, 10-1

Diamond Bachelor, P. Biancone, Was part of fast pace, but was odds-on in Zuma Beach and couldn’t hold; this is on dirt, and tougher, 12-1

New Year’s Day, B. Baffert, Unraced since beating Bond Holder late in Del Mar meet; dirt is a question, but he works well on it, 12-1

We Miss Artie, T. Pletcher, A decisive, if surprising winner of Breeders’ Futurity; that was on Poly, though, and a very slow race, 12-1

Cleburne, D. Romans, Upset an Iroquois that was even slower Beyer-wise than the Breeders’ Futurity, but it was on dirt, 20-1

Medal Count, D. Romans, Wasn’t good enough in the turf-to-Poly Bourbon; hard to envision him being good enough in this, 20-1

Mexikoma, R. Mettee, Even if he got a decent fig for his maiden romp at Delaware, he is still making a massive class jump, 20-1

Conquest Titan, M. Casse, Had a less than ideal trip in the Breeders’ Futurity, but still must do way better to contend here, 30-1

Rum Point, D. O’Neill, Was found wanting in the Del Mar and Breeders’ Futurities, and dirt ability is unknown too, 30-1

Smarty’s Echo, A. Smith, Second in the Breeders’ Futurity, which, it bears repeating, was slow; another unknown on dirt, 30-1
